Manufacturer’s Scheduled Maintenance?

Preventative upkeep, aka “scheduled maintenance“, is the steady plan of services which auto makers suggest to maintain your car performing nicely in addition to risk-free. Care times differ by car or truck, operating trend, and also operating conditions.

CONTACT US FOR PRICING ON YOUR CAR’S MAINTENANCE >>

Are You an “Average” or “Extreme” Car Owner?

When considering routine maintenance recommendations, individuals are faced with a range of advice and also experiences. When an owners guide advocates one particular schedule of services, a fast lube franchise’s advises a second, and then your car dealership talks about yet another, it is no surprise individuals feel they they will turn out to be cheated and shelling out for program or service they do not need. It can be very hard to understand who is being truthful and who is not.

The simple truth is inside owners guide book. Brands spell out repairs and maintenance times for one’s automobile, definitely not dealerships—and clearly not fast lube franchises. A lot of companies separate servicing activities into normal and severe or Average and Extreme operating settings.

Most people do not consider the types of conditions they place on the family car, yet if you normally do any kind of of the following, then your car’s protection you should adhere to the “severe” driving conditions schedule:

Travel lots of quick jaunts of less than ten (10) miles.

Commute in major traffic with many different halts along with starts.

Travel at higher than normal rates of speed.

Tow quite heavy loads or travel off-road.

Commute in messy types of conditions (mud, rain, snow, ice).

Commute in exceptionally cold or very very hot environments (Las Vegas).

Shocked? Lots of individuals are.

If the list above is ”Extreme”, then what is “Average”?

Most trip are of ten (10) miles or over.

Regular rates of speed of fifty to seventy-five miles per hour.

Travelling in low-traffic conditions with handful of stops and starts.

Comfortable daily driving temperatures between 55 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

Know what your own expectations as well as priorities are to help capitalize on the best choices with regards to your own vehicle’s upkeep plan. A parent of young children might come up with options depending on basic safety. Someone using their car mainly to get to work and back may stress over gas mileage. A college student might create options according to income and spending flow—or shortage thereof. Everyone of us has distinct priorities along with situations. Think about how hard you drive your car and adjust your manufacturers maintenance schedule accordingly.

As practical auto owners, all of us need to assume accountability regarding performing routine maintenance fundamentals. Regularly checking out tire pressure, motor oil, and also coolant quantities will alone substantially boost the lifetime of your own automobile along with perhaps help you save 1000’s of dollars in car repairs later on. And besides, a well-maintained vehicle lasts longer and saves money over time not to mention it is a lot more reliable.

The real costs of driving a new car is higher than you think

Most people have no idea of the cost of providing transportation from point “A” to point “B”. We have assembled some statistics for you to consider; remembering that the average mid-size new car now costs a minimum of $25,000 plus. Financing the average new car at 7.5% interest over 5 years runs $500.95 per month. The average required full coverage insurance is around $50.00 extra per month. With average miles driven of 15,000 per year, totaling 75,000 miles over 5 years and average maintenance costs of $440 which comes out to $36.66 per month adds up to a total expense of $658.78 per month, for the next 60 months, not counting tires or gas!! Oh, by the way, that does not include depreciation of about $15,000!! The total expense, WITHOUT DEPRECIATION to drive from point “A” to point “B” costs $7,905.36 per year and $3,9526.80 for 5 years of transportation; and you wonder why money is tight! This will vary up or down based on your individual transportation requirements. If you have more than one vehicle, multiply the above accordingly.

When it comes time to perform maintenance and repairs and you need to spend a $1,800 to prolong the useful life of your vehicle, take this into consideration. If by doing the maintenance and repairs gets you just another 12 months and /or 15000miles; the average cost would be around $150 month. Compare this to a $25,000 new car which will cost you $9455.28 over the first 12 months, with an average monthly cost around $658.78 which includes $1937.50 in Nevada sales tax that goes for nothing!! Which will it be? A $1937.50 payment to Nevada for nothing or $1,800 for repairs and maintenance to get another 12 months and /or 15,000 miles; you tell me what makes more sense!

So, use the $6,105 you save per year by keeping your vehicle well maintained, safer, and longer in order to realize your dreams, retirement, or children’s education. To fully maximize your transportation dollar, you need to get 150,000 to 200,000 miles out of your vehicle. This is possible because today’s vehicles are built better than ever before. By doing the manufacturers’ recommended maintenance, you will help insure the same level of reliability you have come to know and expect.

We have customers come in to our facility who have recently had a “free” diagnostic service performed at a parts store. They always tell the same story. “The parts person came out with his scanner, read the code, sold me a sensor, and my light is STILL on. Now, they won’t take the part back!”

Reading a trouble code is only a “bird’s eye view” of what is happening with your vehicle’s onboard diagnostic system.

Think about it another way. If your “problem with printer” icon came on right now, would you automatically replace your printer? Of course not, you would run through a troubleshooting sequence to properly diagnose the root cause of the problem. As you know most times you do not have to replace your printer to make it work. Reading a trouble code in a vehicle’s onboard system is just like having a problem icon appear on your PC. It’s only a start. It is much less expensive and time consuming to have a professional diagnosis performed and replace only the parts that are needed instead of playing an expensive guessing game. We recommend making an appointment with experienced and fully equipped technicians like Allied Service Center.
